Hard Flooding

Postby Deacon » February 7th, 2010, 8:20 pm

One of the new plug in's is causing people to get kicked for Hard Flooding for some reason. Seems related to binds though. I'm guessing it detects people using auto-scripts or multiple alias binds.

Think you could look into that one Disco?

Should be related to the new plug in I'm guessing.

Can you replicate the situation? I dont know why a anti spam plug in will boot people unless they try to put the script in chat, or otherwise, something they arent supposed to.

That is true, Disco added a plugin to ban people that are flooding the server to keep it from crashing. They may not be purposefully trying to flood the server, but some script or something they are using must be sending excessive commands to the sever. This isn't a bug, people need to check what they are using.

That's why I made the post, I knew about the plug in and figured it had something to do with it.

I can vouch for being able to reproduce it. I have a script that buys an AK, ammo, helmet + armor, and a set of dualies all at once. It's just a simple script alias. If I press the bind key twice or so, it will kick me. I think it just doesn't like all the commands so fast. Normally the script works just fine since I don't spam keys, but occasionally I see people like IDL get kicked for it often (he managed to get the week ban for it). I assume he's using something along the same lines or he's one fast typist. Several others have had it happen also way more.

If there's a certain setting for the amount of commands it might be a good idea to lax it up some since people do use scripts quite often in that game while keeping the integrity of why the plug in is there in the first place.

Or don't spam your buy keys. It's a pub server not CAL, that 1 second you wait to make sure the round has started isn't a big deal.
