Battlefield Bad Company 2

Postby disconnect » January 25th, 2010, 12:07 pm

I thought I should make an official announcement about this game. Many of us here have been playing the new Call of Duty: Modern warfare 2. The lack of dedicated server support combined with the large amount of exploits has really made MW2 unenjoyable on many levels. One thing MW2 did do right though, was get our mouths watering for a nice "realistic" war game.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 looks like it will solve our MW2 blues. The game itself looks crazy and it will allow us to get our own dedicated server, where we can control settings, reserved slots, kick, ban, etc. The one catch, we cant host this server ourselves, we have to get it from an authorized game provider. What does that mean? It means, this server is going to come at an additional cost to us. We're going to be getting a server, and so long as it's being used, we'll keep it. This server wont be like the other servers we have where it was ok to sit empty. As soon as this one starts to go unused, we'll kill cancel it, as it will cost a decent amount of money to have.

Ok, so now what?

Step one: Go pre-order the game on steam now! You'll get access to the month long beta that starts Friday.
Step two: If this game is something you're really looking forward to playing and love the idea of having a home server, please considering setting up a monthly subscription to help us out. Odds are, this server will cost us anywhere from 60 - 100/month. The prices aren't out yet, but you know we want to buy a quality server.

I'm trying to see if we can get a server running for the beta, but it looks like EA may run all of these.

While we're waiting for the beta to drop, have a look at some videos!

Cheers!

Yay. I hope this game catches on and can become a staple game for HfG. It seems like a lot of HfG'ers are lining up to play this game.

If true then I have no problem dishing out 50 bucks, but it if ends up like MW2, with 5 or 10 people playing once a week, doubtfull. I think I'm going to end up preordering anyways...

Why is it Bad Company 2? Do these two games have singleplayer campaigns? Why not BF3?

Yes, there is single player, trailer for it just came out on Friday. Google is your friend.
